Welcome to the Housing Benefit Operational Database (HoBOD). This allows you to
- Look at demographic features and classifications of individual Local Authorities (LAs) (using the Summary function)
- Look at a wide range of data submitted by one LA in a chosen quarter (using the 'Detailed Picture' function)
- Look at a range of data over time for one LA (using the 'Time Series' function)
- Compare the scores of different LAs for a single item of data over 1 or more quarters (using the 'National Picture' function)
- Look at annual scores of different LAs for a single item of data over 1 or more years (using the 'Annual Totals' function)
- Look at summary information on the self assessments completed by LAs (using the 'Self Assessment' function)
- See which LAs have had certain engagements with Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) (using the 'DWP Engagements' function)
- See which LAs have applied for PSF (Performance Standards Fund) funding (using the 'PSF Applications' function)
- View the number of interventions (reviews) carried out and the number of overpayments identified (using the 'Reviews' function)
- Results for PM10 Reductions are discontinued. Historical data can be viewed (using the 'PM10 Reductions' function)
- Look at progress against the new performance indicator, NI180, for one or more LAs. The Right Benefit Indicator is classed as management information on Housing Benefits. They are not National Statistics and so have not been quality assured to the standard normally required for designation as a National Statistic. (using the 'Right Benefit Indicator' function)
We hold data on LA caseloads, processing times, administration measures, security measures and engagements with DWP.
Please read the User Guide before trying the database.
We also provide an analytical guide to assist with producing figures compatible with existing DWP published and internal figures.
- The data in the database is submitted by LAs and is reported performance. While DWP officials work with LAs to ensure the validity and consistency of the data submitted, we cannot guarantee its accuracy.
- The data on DWP engagements is submitted by the engaging organisation and is updated weekly.
- Some Security related information is taken from financial data and in this case '0' may mean not reported.
- Weekly Incorrect Benefit (WIB) data is not currently validated and may be inaccurate or inconsistent with other data sources. It is provided as supplied by the LA
- It should be noted that the revised overpayments indicators have only been in place for a year (April 2005), so this should be taken into account when viewing the data. Over time they will be a meaningful measure of overpayments recovery activity.
