212 Incapacity Benefit Reforms - the Personal Adviser Role & Practices This research report presents the findings from a qualitative research study conducted by teams from the National Centre for Social Research (Natcen), the Policy Studies Institute (PSI) and the Social Policy Research Unit at York University (SPRU). 211 Mentoring and Post-Employment Support This report presents the findings from an evaluation of sixteen mentoring and post-employment support pilots introduced under the New Deal Next Phase (NDNP). 209 Evaluation of the Extension to NDLP Eligibility New Deal for Lone Parents is a voluntary programme aimed at helping lone parents into work, improving their job-readiness, and supporting them in employment. Evaluation of the Jobcentre Plus

Team Bonus Scheme

Following the introduction of the Jobcentre Plus Team Bonus Scheme in the 17 original rolled out Districts, MORI were commissioned to undertake a two stage qualitative research study. 203 Review of Additional Points, 2003-2004 This report presents the results of a review of the Additional Points (AP) element of the Jobcentre Plus Job Entry Target system. 201 Emerging findings for the Refugee Employment Strategy This report draws together recent research undertaken as part of the service delivered to Jobcentre Plus customers, particularly refugees with needs in English for Speakers of Other Languages. The work is in support of the DWPs refugee and employment strategy. 200 A review of ‘What we know’ about partners of benefit recipients This review of evidence is based on analysis of survey data relating to characteristics of couples, administrative data on receipt of benefits, and on published evaluations of Jobcentre Plus (formerly Employment Service) programmes and policies. The report explores the characteristics of all couples and of all workless couples. It goes on to consider the characteristics of benefit recipients and their partners, and focuses on attitudes and barriers to work of non-working, non-claiming partners of benefit recipients, as this is the group for whom the Government is developing new welfare to work policies. 09/04   Full report – 200 (1.94MB) PDF

195 A study of providers new to Workstep Following a procurement exercise to attract a more diverse range of WORKSTEP providers, the DWP commissioned the Disability Services Research Partnership to carry out research into the contribution and experiences of the newly contracted providers. The report describes the background of the new providers and their motivations for tendering to provide WORKSTEP. Their experiences and views are juxtaposed with those of Disability Employment Advisers. 194 Understanding Performance Variation This report presents the results of work lead by GHK, together with Cambridge Econometrics and Bannock Consulting, to better understand variation between job entry rates in districts. 193 Drug and alcohol use as barriers to employment: final report In June 2002 the DWP commissioned the Centre for Research in Social Policy to undertake a study of the support needs of substance users, including drug, alcohol and drug and alcohol users, in Britain. This report combines the three distinct research activities in this study. Firstly, research into estimating the number, and describing the demographic and socio economic characteristics of substance users who are claiming social security benefits and living in private households. The study also includes interviews with ten treatment organisations and thirty drug or alcohol users into substance users employment support needs. 190 Volunteering and Availability for Work: an evaluation of the change to Jobseeker's Allowance Regulations An evaluation of the change in the 48 hour rule for people on Jobseeker’s Allowance who do voluntary work determines whether it has had the desired effect of increasing volunteering by unemployed people and encouraging voluntary organisations to make better use of them. 189 Evaluation of Work Based Learning for Adults: technical report The DWP commissioned the National Centre for Social Research and the Policy Studies Institute to conduct an evaluation of Work Based Learning for Adults. This is a voluntary training programme aimed principally at those, aged 25 and over, who have been unemployed for at least six months and who are currently in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance or another qualifying benefit.
