WORKSTEP customer survey

By: Ann Purvis, Rebecca Law and James Lowrey

This report presents findings from a two-phased piece of research into customer experience and a baseline of the existing WORKSTEP customers.

WORKSTEP is a broad range of programmes and schemes which aim to help disabled people find and retain work. Supported employees on WORKSTEP work either in supported placements with mainstream employers, or in supported businesses established to employ disabled people.

The first phase of this research was a quantitative survey involving 1,009 participants and the second phase was a series of qualitative interviews involving 98 participants. Researchers from the Centre for Public Policy, Northumbria University carried out the research between October 2008 and July 2009. The baseline data collected will feed into an evaluation of the Work Choice Programme, which is set to replace WORKSTEP in October 2010.
