Current practices in the workplace personal pension market: Qualitative research with pension providers and intermediaries

by: Andrew Wood, John Leston and Marisa Robertson

This report presents findings of a qualitative study carried out in July and August 2008 to explore current practices in workplace personal pensions, with regard to charging structures and levels, and investment options. It involved face-to-face depth interviews with 16 of the top 20 UK pension providers and 28 intermediaries across a range of sizes. The research was carried out on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) by RS Consulting.

The study was commissioned as part of a programme of research and analysis carried out by the DWP to inform policy development, implementation and estimation of the likely impacts of the workplace pension reforms.
