Live now, save later? Young people, saving and pensions

This report presents findings from research which explored the attitudes of people aged 16 to 29 to saving, retirement and pensions. The research was undertaken in late 2006 to help identify ways of encouraging and enabling young people to save, particularly for their retirement.

Ipsos MORI undertook the research on behalf of the Department. It consisted of 16 group discussions with young people aged from 16 to 29, from different regions. In addition, 20 people were selected from these groups for an individual follow-up interview which was held a few weeks later. There was a mix of participants who were working, not working, in education, and with and without any savings or a pension.
