From job seekers to job keepers: job retention, advancement and the role of in-work support programmes

This report presents findings from a review of job retention and advancement programmes in 17 OECD countries. The review is based on published reports for 170 programmes, mostly administered in the United States and Canada. The report provides an analysis of programmes that offer financial, and practical, in-work support to both benefit-leavers and employers, an analysis of programmes by types of delivery systems, and, an assessment of the evidence for 'what works' in job retention and advancement. The research was carried out by the Centre for Research in Social Policy, University of Loughborough.

The research was commissioned jointly by the Department for Work and Pensions and the Centre for Management and Policy Studies, Cabinet Office.
