Findings from the Macro evaluation of the New Deal for Young People
Research Report No. 168
By Michael White and Rebecca Riley
New Deal for Young People is Britain's largest welfare-to-work programme. The National Institute of Economic and Social Research and the Policy Studies Institute have carried out independent and wide-ranging evaluations, investigating the programme's impacts on youth unemployment and employment, its indirect consequences for other age-groups and for the youth job market, and its effects on public finances and the overall economy. This summary report for the first time compares their main findings, and also summarises internal analysis from the Department for Work and Pensions.
