Outcomes for Children of Poverty
Research Report No. 158
By John Ermisch, Marco Francesconi, David J. Pevalin
This report presents analysis conducted by academics from the Institute for Social and Economic Research at the University of Essex. It is one of two reports designed to examine the dynamics of poverty over time, and its effects, using nine waves of the British Household Panel Study (BHPS).
This report examines outcomes for children of poverty, and provides an insight into intergenerational transmission and the factors associated with deprivation. The first report, 'The Dynamics of Poverty in Britain' (Report No. 157), examines movement into and out of poverty and persistence of poverty for specific household groups - families with children; couple households without children and single households.
