Evaluation of the“ Pension Power for You” Helpline

This report presents findings from the first two stages of a programme of research by IFF Research Ltd, to evaluate the “Pension Power for You” Helpine, organised by the Trades Union Congress (TUC). Interim findings from the first stage, were published in Department of Social Security In-House report no.56 which examined the number and nature of calls and information given to callers. Full findings from the first stage are presented in this report together with the findings from the second stage, which consisted of telephone interviews with 1,029 callers to the Helpline and in-depth interviews with staff operating the Helpline. Findings from the third stage, which followed up 500 callers to examine any longer term impact on pensions decisions, will be published in a separate report.
